Generally, there are two groups of people: those who always choose a down duvet and those who insist on a washable duvet. With a fully washable duvet, you're guaranteed an extra hygienic and fresh bed, which contributes to optimal comfort. A washable duvet is especially helpful if you have allergies to things like dust mites. Or if you have young children who tend to have accidents at night, it's nice to be able to wash the entire bedding.
Our washable duvets can be machine washed at 40 or 60 degrees Celsius and tumble dried on a low setting. This is convenient because you can have your duvet washed and dry in a single day, so you can sleep under it again that same night. Always ensure your duvet is completely dry before sleeping under it to prevent mold. We recommend using only mild detergent (not too much!) and no fabric softener or other products. Always check the care instructions carefully before washing.

Synthetic duvets
Generally, duvets filled with synthetic materials are completely washable, which is a major advantage for many people. Another advantage of a synthetic duvet is its lower price than down. In the past, synthetic materials were associated with a sweaty feeling. But modern synthetic fillings are so advanced that they offer excellent climate control and breathability.
Our synthetic washable duvets are from Vandyck. This is a progressive brand in swimwear and bedding. With Vandyck, you're guaranteed quality and a wonderful duvet, whatever you choose. Which duvet suits you best? That depends on your personal preferences.
Thermal duvet
Are you looking for a washable microfiber duvet? Then we would like to point you to the Vandyck Thermo A duvet with a siliconized polyester microfiber filling. A duvet that feels and sleeps comfortably like down, but is machine washable at 60 degrees Celsius. A wonderfully soft duvet weighing just 710 grams for a single size and 1215 grams for a twin size.
The cover (outer layer) of the Thermo duvet is made of 100% combed cotton. A cotton cover promotes the duvet's breathability and therefore enhances your sleeping comfort. The microfiber lining is held in place by square blocks surrounded by a border, the edges of which are finished with a satin piping.
Fibersoft duvet
Do you want a duvet with a higher warmth class because you get chilly quickly? Then it is Vandyck Fibersoft A duvet is an excellent choice. This luxurious, washable duvet offers the highest level of comfort, filled with 100% polyester hollow fiber. This filling feels wonderfully voluminous and soft. The ticking (fixed cover) is made of 100% sateen cotton and has a luxurious finish with a satin piping.
The Fibersoft duvet has a higher fill weight, partly due to its higher warmth rating. It's 1120 grams for a single duvet and 1920 grams for a double. The hollow fibers, and therefore the duvet's weight, are evenly distributed by the squares. The hollow fiber duvet is machine washable at 60 degrees Celsius. This is very beneficial if you suffer from allergies, as it prevents bacteria.
Washable duvet made of natural fabrics
Do you want to make your bed with only natural materials? We also have a nice washable duvet for you. However, this is a duvet in a lower warmth class: the Vandyck Summer Silk Duvet. This washable summer duvet is filled with 100% mulberry silk and features square stitching for optimal fill distribution and insulation. In terms of weight, this airy duvet falls between the other two, with a twin size weighing 1440 grams. The super-light woven cover is made of 100% combed cotton, making it a natural product.
You can wash the Summer Silk duvet at 40 degrees Celsius. This keeps your duvet fresh and hygienic, but the temperature isn't high enough to kill dust mites. If you suffer from allergies, this duvet might not be the best choice for you.
Single or double washable duvet?
The Summer Silk duvet is designed as a summer duvet and is therefore only available as a single duvet. The other two (Thermo and Fibersoft) are also available as all-season duvets. This means they come as double duvets, and you can choose whether to use both or one of them on your bed. How do you know whether to choose a single or double duvet?
A four-season duvet (duo) consists of two separate parts, one of which has a slightly higher filling weight than the other. This makes a double duvet suitable for any season. One part for the warmer seasons, one for autumn, and together they form a winter duvet.
However, houses built today are so well insulated that the temperature in a bedroom remains fairly constant year-round. Is this the case for you? Then a single duvet is probably perfect for you. Or if you like to snuggle under down comforters during the colder months and want to wash your duvet occasionally in the summer, choose a single washable duvet plus a single down duvet.
What size washable duvet do you need?
Before purchasing a new duvet, it's important to check the correct dimensions to ensure you get the right one. Vandyck duvets are available in either 200 cm or 220 cm lengths. To determine which size you need, add 30 to 40 cm to your height.
To determine the width of your duvet, measure the width of your mattress. A single bed is usually 90 x 200 cm, but can also be 80 or 100 cm wide. In that case, a single duvet measuring 140 x 200 cm is sufficient. For a double bed or three-quarter bed that is 120 or 140 cm wide, choose a double duvet measuring 200 x 200 cm. For a larger bed of 160 or 180 cm, you'll need a twin duvet. The dimensions of a twin duvet are 240 x 200 cm.
Do you need a washable twin duvet cover but have a washing machine with a small drum? Then your entire duvet might not fit. A smart solution might be to choose two single duvets. However, a twin duvet cover isn't suitable for two single duvets. So, choose two separate duvet covers so each duvet cover fits neatly and snugly.
This option is also an option if a double bed is too large for you and the duvet isn't practical to make. For example, if you have limited mobility.Two single duvets are also a good choice for couples with completely different sleep comfort needs. For example, one person may perspire more and need a duvet with a lower warmth rating than the other.
