Duvets 140x200 cm
Are you looking for a 140x200 cm duvet? This is the standard size for a single duvet. That doesn't mean it's only used for single beds. You can also replace one double bed with two separate 140x200 cm duvets. There are several reasons for doing this; more on that later.
A good duvet contributes to a wonderful night's sleep, which in turn has a positive effect on your health. A good night's sleep is incredibly important, but it doesn't mean the same thing for everyone. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to duvets, for example. Fortunately, at Bath, we have&Living offers a wide variety of duvets, made with different materials. Something for everyone!
New duvets from Vandyck
Our entire range duvets Vandyck, a Dutch brand with over 100 years of experience in home textiles and an established name in the world of bedding, is the leading name in the textile industry. With Vandyck duvets, you're guaranteed high quality and a comfortable night's sleep. But aesthetics matter too! So, Vandyck is also a progressive brand when it comes to the colors and designs of its bedding.
The right size duvet for an optimal night's sleep
Before buying a new duvet, carefully check the dimensions of your mattress to ensure you choose the right size. A single bed can come in many different sizes. A 90x200 cm mattress is standard, but the length can vary, and the width can also be 80 or 100 cm. Always make sure your duvet is wider than your mattress. A duvet that's too small can disrupt a good night's sleep.
Our 140x200 duvets fit mattresses with the widths listed perfectly. If your mattress is wider than that, you probably have a double bed, and a duvet of 200x200 cm a better choice. Is your mattress length 210 or 220 cm? Then we recommend an extra-long single duvet of 140x220 cm to choose from. These sizes are also included in our range.
What else do you use a 140x200 duvet for?
We often advise couples to switch to two separate duvets (140x200 cm) instead of one double duvet. There may be a significant difference between your and your partner's sleeping preferences. For example, one person gets warm easily while the other gets cold. Or you're a light sleeper and wake up easily when your partner stirs. In these cases, it can be helpful to each sleep under your own duvet.
Even for people with limited mobility, single duvets can make making a bed easier. Two separate duvets (140x200 cm) are much lighter than a twin. The matching duvet covers are also much more manageable than large twin duvet covers, which is convenient when washing and folding your bedding.
Various types of duvets 140x200
There are various types of duvets filled with different materials, such as synthetic hollow fibers, microfiber, down, and wool. Wool and down are materials that naturally provide excellent insulation, ventilation, and moisture absorption. Both natural materials make excellent duvet fillings. Although wool has the unique property of being self-cleaning, wool duvets are not available at Bath.&Living.
What our duvets all have in common is their cover made of soft (satin) cotton, regardless of the duvet's filling. Cotton is a great material for bedding in both winter and summer due to its excellent moisture absorption and ventilation. Vandyck also provides duvets with a tightly woven cover, which keeps dust mites out. This reduces the risk of allergic reactions.
Down comforter
We offer a wide selection of down duvets. Down fillings provide excellent ventilation and are comfortably warm. If you sweat at night, down is also a good choice because it absorbs moisture and won't feel clammy.
A very positive characteristic of goose down is its incredible lightness. Unlike a wool duvet, a down comforter lies softly and airily on your body. This is because goose feathers have almost no stems and are wonderfully fluffy. Vandyck ensures that all down feathers are heat-treated to eliminate bacteria that cause allergies.
The downside of a down duvet is that you can't put it in the washing machine. However, daily fluffing and regular airing is enough to maintain your duvet. If you do this, your 140x200 cm duvet can last a very long time. The quality of a down duvet only begins to decline after 6 to 10 years. This makes it worth the investment.
Synthetic duvet
Our duvets with synthetic fillings are machine washable, which is especially helpful if you have allergies. Dust mites don't stand a chance when you wash your duvet at 60 degrees Celsius. A 140x200 cm duvet isn't very large and is therefore easy to wash at home. Feel free to tumble dry it on a low setting, so you can put your fresh duvet back on your bed the same day.
With our synthetic duvets, you can choose from various fillings, such as polyester hollow fiber or microfiber. Both feel wonderfully soft and supple. Today's synthetic material also doesn't feel clammy anymore, making it a perfect choice for your single bed in any season.
All-year duvet
Do you live in a house with modern insulation? Chances are your bedroom temperature is fairly consistent year-round, never getting extremely cold or hot. In that case, a single duvet (140x200 cm) is a great choice for year-round use. This will be a duvet with an average warmth rating, offering good ventilation and moisture management. Your duvet will keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. Depending on your personal sleeping preferences and needs, all our duvets are suitable as a single duvet for year-round use.
4 seasons duvet
Does your room temperature fluctuate with the seasons? Then you might prefer more flexibility in terms of warmth rating, and a 4-season or double duvet is ideal for you. A 4-season duvet consists of two separate parts that can easily be joined together to create a comfortable winter duvet. One part is a bit thicker for autumn, while the other is a lighter spring duvet. Except for our summer duvets, every duvet in our collection is available as a 4-season duvet. This saves you money and storage space, as you don't have to buy a separate duvet for each season.
Summer duvet
For those very warm nights or if you tend to overheat easily, we have three summer duvets with different fillings to choose from. One down duvet with a low warmth rating, one with a natural mulberry silk filling, and one with bamboo and Tencel. This combination is ideal for a summer duvet because bamboo offers superior moisture and temperature regulation, while Tencel feels cool. The Vandyck Summer 95 is filled with 95% goose down, so you can enjoy that luxurious down feeling even in the summer. And the mulberry silk duvet has the added benefit of being machine washable.
