Vandyck ensures a good night's sleep
All our single duvets are from Vandyck, a brand with extensive knowledge and experience in bedding. With Vandyck products, you're guaranteed ultimate comfort thanks to the high-quality materials and workmanship. Vandyck offers a wide range; in addition to many duvets also duvet covers, fitted sheets, mattress protectors, bedspreads, bathrobes, towels and bath mats.
Dimensions of single duvets
To ensure a good night's sleep, make sure you choose the right size duvet. Our selection includes various sizes for single beds. The size of your mattress is especially important when choosing a duvet. For optimal comfort, make sure your new duvet is at least 40 cm wider than that, so your duvet has sufficient overhang on both sides.
The standard size for a single duvet is 140x200 cm. This is a perfect fit for a single mattress, which is generally 90x200 cm but can also be 80 or 100 cm wide. This is suitable for a single bed or a cot. It's also a good size if you want to use two separate duvets on a large bed. This is useful, for example, if you share a bed with someone who has different sleeping preferences, such as warmth. In that case, choose two separate single duvets instead of one double, each with the features you desire.
Extra long duvet
While the standard mattress length used to be 200 cm, many people now opt for a longer bed, for example, 210 cm or 220 cm. This provides extra space and comfort and prevents even taller people from getting cold feet while sleeping. In that case, you'll also need bedding with extra length. To meet this need, we offer single duvets measuring 140x220 cm. Our duvet covers also have a standard length of 220 cm, so you can always find a cover that fits.
Different materials single duvets
Our range includes various types of single duvets. By this, we mean different fillings, as the cover (outer layer) of all our single duvets is made of high-quality cotton. A cotton duvet contributes to optimal ventilation and moisture absorption, which significantly contributes to a good night's sleep.
Down comforter
Do you want to sleep among only natural materials? Then a down comforter The best choice for you. Down is a material with optimal insulation that breathes well and wicks away body moisture to prevent clammy, restless nights. We offer single duvets with various down percentages and warmth ratings. The higher the fill power, the less filling is needed to achieve greater warmth. Are you a down lover? Then also check out our down slippers. You'll never have cold feet again!
Another natural material used for duvets is wool. However, we don't prefer it because a wool blanket isn't as soft and airy and feels stiffer. This can create gaps, making you feel cold. The big advantage of a down duvet is that it drapes smoothly around your body and therefore always fits comfortably.
Our Vandyck duvets are made with goose down.Goose feathers are larger and fluffier than duck feathers and have a soft stem or no stem at all. This creates a very lightweight and airy duvet with optimal warmth, without the prickling sensation. To maintain the fluffiness of the down feathers, we recommend not sitting on your bed and shaking the duvet daily. The heat treatment of Vandyck down combats bacteria that can cause allergies. The tightly woven cover also helps keep out dust mites and drafts.
Washable duvet
Are its anti-allergic properties important to you? Then a washable duvet Perhaps the best choice. Our synthetic single duvets are machine washable at 60 degrees Celsius, eliminating dust mites. After washing, tumble dry your duvet on a low setting and you'll be sleeping under a fresh, anti-allergy duvet in no time.
Besides these advantages (washable and hypoallergenic), synthetic materials are also more affordable than natural materials. Although modern polyester duvet fillings no longer feel clammy, they are still less breathable than natural materials.
The right duvet for every season
After you've figured out the right size and filling for you, we'll take it a step further to find the perfect duvet. In the Netherlands, we experience the seasons. A year can change from cold winter nights to humid, warm summer nights. If the weather changes, it's important to adjust your bedding accordingly.
4 seasons duvet
If you experience fluctuating room temperatures throughout the year, a four-season duvet is ideal. A four-season duvet consists of two parts with different warmth ratings. You can choose which part you find most comfortable to sleep under each season. In spring and summer, use only the thinnest part, and in winter, choose the warmer single winter duvet. By connecting them, you can easily transform your duvet into an extra warm winter duvet.
The perfect duvet for the whole year
Modern homes are so well insulated that the temperature in a bedroom is less affected. In that case, one duvet is often sufficient for the entire year, regardless of whether you choose synthetic or down. Do you get warm easily? Then choose a slightly lower warmth rating for a wonderful night's sleep.
Buying a single duvet is also useful if your preferences change with the seasons. For example, if you only want down in winter and prefer a washable duvet in summer.
single summer duvet
However, we also have a very fine down summer duvetPrecisely because it breathes so well and is lightweight, a down duvet with a lower warmth rating can provide optimal comfort on warm nights. Do you prefer a lightweight summer duvet without down? Then you can choose between a natural and synthetic filling. Namely 100% mulberry silk (washable) or a blend of 50% bamboo and 50% Tencel (not machine washable). Tencel is made from the eucalyptus tree and therefore feels cool, which is very pleasant in high temperatures. Bamboo also has cooling properties and excellent moisture management, ideal for summer.
