double duvets
In the Bath range&Living offers a wide variety of double duvets. A 200x200 cm double duvet is popular, as it's suitable for both single and couples. These double duvets fit perfectly on a three-quarter bed and a double bed up to 160x200 cm. A three-quarter bed usually measures 140x200 cm.
Are you looking for a new double duvet and having trouble choosing the right one? We'd be happy to offer personalized advice about our products. We'll work with you to find the best duvet for your sleeping position and preferences, so you can sleep soundly. A good night's sleep is essential for your health.
The ideal duvet of 200x200 cm
Our bedding, including 200x200 cm duvets, is all Vandyck brand. With a Vandyck duvet, you're choosing high-quality duvets. For a comfortable night's sleep, it's important to choose the right size duvet. If your duvet overhangs your mattress by at least 20 cm on both sides, it's wide enough. A 200x200 cm double duvet is therefore suitable for a bed up to 160x200 cm. Do you have a large bed, for example, with a 180x200 cm mattress? Then choose a double (240x200 cm) or even a double XL for an even bigger bed. It's better to go for two separate duvets 140x200 cm if you and your partner have different warmth needs.
A duvet Of course, a duvet cover isn't quite ready to sleep. That's why our range includes duvet covers in various sizes. For double duvets, you'll need a 200x220 cm duvet cover. The extra 20 cm length and the generous bottle neck of each duvet cover make making your bed easier. If you're looking for new bedding, be sure to check out our other products. We have comfortable pillows and soft, decorative bedspreads.
All kinds of double duvets
The double duvets at Bath&Living duvets are divided into down duvets and washable or synthetic duvets. The type of duvet that suits you best depends on your own preferences. Do you get cold easily or warm quickly? Do you only want natural materials on your bed, or is that not so important to you? Is an anti-allergenic duvet important to you, or do you not need to worry about allergies? Do you prefer a separate summer duvet that keeps you nice and cool, or a double duvet for year-round comfort?
We're happy to discuss the different types of duvets and their materials with you, so you can make an informed choice. We can start by explaining that every duvet in our range has a cover made of wonderfully soft cotton. The cover is the outer layer of a duvet, surrounding the filling. A cotton duvet contributes to a wonderful night's sleep because it's a natural material that's breathable and moisture-absorbent.
Anti-allergy duvet
If you suffer from dust mite allergies and are looking for a truly anti-allergy duvet, a synthetic filling might be a good choice. Traditionally, synthetic products were associated with a clammy feeling because they were less breathable. While materials like down and wool are "naturally" better for breathability, today's synthetic materials are so advanced that this is no longer an issue. Among our synthetic duvets, you'll also find luxurious and comfortable double duvets that feel down-soft.
Various synthetic fibers
For example, we have a double duvet made of 100% polyester hollow fiber in the highest comfort class: the Vandyck Fibersoft duvet. It feels wonderfully voluminous and has a luxurious 100% sateen cotton cover. For a more affordable double duvet with synthetic fibers, consider the Vandyck Thermo duvet, made of 100% siliconized polyester microfiber.
Can my double duvet be washed in the washing machine?
What makes a synthetic duvet primarily hypoallergenic is its washability. Both of the double duvets mentioned above are machine washable at 60 degrees Celsius, eliminating dust mites. They can also be tumble dried at a low temperature. This allows you to wash, dry, and freshen up your duvet in a single day. To be on the safe side, check that your washing machine is large enough for a double duvet so it can be properly washed and cleaned.
Down comforter
Our down duvets also have anti-allergic properties. All Vandyck down is heat-treated to combat bacteria and allergens. Combined with the tightly woven cover that repels dust mites, our double down duvets are suitable for allergy sufferers. However, a double duvet with a down filling is not machine washable.
Airy double duvet
One of down's unique properties is its excellent insulation combined with its extremely light weight. Even if you choose a warmer duvet with a higher warmth rating, a down duvet retains its light, airy, and wonderfully soft feel. Goose down, in particular, is very light and airy because goose feathers have virtually no stems. They are also larger and fluffier than duck feathers, making them ideal for both a warm winter duvet and a summer duvet.
Down percentage and filling weight
In the Bath&The Living range offers a wide variety of down duvets, with varying fill percentages and weights. The higher the weight, the more filling per square meter. And the warmer the duvet, you might say. But the fill percentage also affects insulation and warmth. The percentage indicates the ratio of down feathers to regular feathers in the duvet. The higher the percentage, the more luxurious the duvet. Feathers hold less air than down and will therefore insulate less effectively. Therefore, it's quite possible that a lower fill weight results in a warmer duvet simply due to the higher down percentage.
Down or wool, which duvet do you choose?
Is a double wool duvet just as good for cold winter nights as a down duvet? In terms of warmth and moisture absorption, wool is a great option. But down is much better than wool in terms of drapeability. A wool duvet lies stiffer on your body, which can create gaps and therefore cold spots. It also feels much heavier, which isn't comfortable for everyone to sleep under. Especially not with a 200x200 cm double duvet shared between two people. Under a wool duvet, you'll feel your partner's movements much more easily.
Single or 4 season duvet?
At Bath&In Living, we offer both single and double duvets for all our double duvets. A double duvet consists of two separate sections: a lightweight summer section and a thicker autumn section. These can be easily connected, allowing you to customize the duvet's warmth rating.
Which version you choose depends, for example, on how well insulated your home is. Does your bedroom get very cool on cold winter days and warm up quickly in the summer? Then it's nice to be able to vary the thickness of your duvet, without having to invest in two separate duvets.Does your room temperature remain relatively stable? Then a single duvet is often sufficient for the entire year. You can also supplement this with a beautiful bedspread in winter as an extra layer.
