Make your bed in the winter

In the Netherlands we are blessed with four completely different seasons, each with their own beauty. This also means changing weather conditions to which we have to adapt our lifestyle. Our bed is an example of something that changes greatly with the seasons. Last summer we already wrote how you can make your bed so cool possible. But in the winter you want all the extra warmth you can get. We have a few tips for that too.
Down comforter
For optimum warmth and flexibility, go for a down duvet. The down percentage tells you how much down there is in a duvet. The remaining part is supplemented with feathers. The higher the down percentage, the better the quality. The duvet will be lighter, warmer, more resilient and more comfortable than with a lower percentage. The filling weight also says something about the quality: the higher the warmer.

Jersey fitted sheet
While you would choose a fitted sheet made of regular cotton or satin cotton in the summer, jersey is the way to go in the winter. Jersey Soft Vandyck fitted sheet is made of 95% combed cotton and is super soft due to the finishing with Aloe Vera. A jersey fitted sheet is warmer and thicker than a satin or cotton fitted sheet and also wrinkle-free. For even more comfort and warmth, choose the Jersey Supreme. Both variants are available in several colours.
Flannel duvet cover
Flannel, a unique fabric that brings an irresistible comfort. Imagine yourself under a duvet cover of flannel, with your head resting on the wonderfully soft fabric. Doesn't that feel like you're sleeping in a warm embrace? With the latest Vandyck collection, this is possible!
Flannel is made of cotton yarn – so breathable and moisture-regulating – woven in a special way and brushed afterwards. This makes flannel feel super soft and warm. This autumn (2023) you will find 11 different duvet covers with flannel in our webshop. Two variants of these are made of 100% flannel, namely Como and Garda (right photo above). The other variants are a combination of flannel with other natural materials.
An extra layer
It goes without saying: an extra layer provides extra warmth. A plaid or bedspread can provide this, but warmth is not the only function. It also gives a cozier look and it protects your duvet cover from dust and (sun)light.
