Keep your bed cool

“Cuddling up under the covers” is something you will say especially in the winter. A lovely duvet that keeps you warm when it is cold outside. But did you know that your bedding can also provide more sleeping comfort in the summer? A sweaty sleeper means a restless sleeper, because your body automatically keeps looking for a cooler spot. If you make the right choices when making your bed, you can keep your sleeping place as cool and comfortable as possible.
Choose the right material
Choose a duvet made of natural materials because they are more breathable than synthetic materials. Your body heat is not “trapped” under your blanket. This means less sweating, more lying still and therefore a better night's sleep.
Washable mulberry silk
For example the SUMMER SILK van Vandyck is a good option. The cover (outside) is made entirely of finely woven cotton and is filled with washable mulberry silk. The filling is perfectly distributed by the stitched blocks, which ensures optimum insulation. Mulberry silk is grown in nurseries, where the Bombyx Mori silkworm is fed with leaves from the mulberry tree. This duvet can be machine washed at 40°C.
Bamboo and tencel
A wonderfully cool, light and airy duvet that is also friendly to the wallet. That is Vandycks SUMMER VENTILATION. The filling consists of a fine 50/50 combination of bamboo and tencel. Tencel is also called the natural synthetic fiber and is made from wood pulp from the eucalyptus tree. Eucalyptus has a cooling effect, which you can really feel in this summer duvet. Bamboo is known for its excellent heat and moisture regulation. The cover is made of 100% cotton and is stitched for optimal distribution and insulation. Pure goose down
Did you know that down is not exclusive to the winter months? It SUMMER DOWN duvet has an extremely light filling weight: only 225 grams for the single duvet (140x200cm). Down also ventilates well and has a high moisture-regulating capacity. The filling of this summer duvet is made with 95% pure goose down. The other 5% of the filling consists of small goose feathers. The cotton ticking has an extra soft finish for the ultimate sleeping comfort. This duvet is not machine washable.
Make or break
It's not just your blanket that matters. The materials you lie on also make a difference. This is how a fitted sheet of cotton or cotton sateen cooler than jersey, for example. And as mentioned earlier, the cooling effect of eucalyptus in Tencel provides a noticeable temperature difference. Tencel is incorporated in this mattress- and pillow protector.
