Hoe plaats en onderhoud je een daybed?

You have discovered the phenomenon of daybeds and set your sights on the beautiful Blomus daybeds (or if not: be sure to read this) what a daybed actually isThe next step is to place it in your garden or on your (roof) terrace. What is the best spot? What should you keep in mind? And how do you keep your new lounge furniture looking beautiful for as long as possible? We will tell you everything you need to know about installing and maintaining a daybed.

To begin with, just like with other textile products, it helps to impregnate your daybed before using it. For this purpose, Blomus offers a special spray (Meda) suitable for outdoor textiles. So, not only for daybeds, but also, for example, for the fabric of an awning or parasol. The Meda impregnation spray provides an extra protective layer that helps prevent the penetration of water, grease, and dirt.

The ideal place for your daybed

When finding the ideal spot for your daybed, ensure there is enough walking space around the outdoor furniture. Also, consider in advance whether you want to place a side table next to the daybed and take these dimensions into account. The Stay daybeds come with a black metal frame onto which you can easily slide your lightweight lounge bed. Due to the frame, part of the cushion remains tilted upwards, allowing you to lounge more in a seated position rather than lying completely flat. As a result, the length is slightly shorter than 190 cm. We recommend always taking this length into account, in case you prefer to use the cushion without the frame.

Blomus daybeds are made for outdoor use with high-quality materials that are durable and UV-resistant. Nevertheless, it is important to consider the effect of weather conditions on anything placed outdoors. Your daybed can safely stand in an open-air spot, but is naturally better protected from the weather under a canopy. To get the most out of the quality, we therefore recommend a covered terrace as the ideal place for your daybed. Do you still want to use your daybed in an uncovered area? Then you can give your lounge furniture a helping hand by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth after the fabric has become wet from rain or snow. Naturally, you should protect your garden furniture against heavy rain, wind, or storms.

Protective and storage cover for your daybed

Covers with the perfect fit for your daybed are also available. Thanks to the drawstring on the protective cover, it stays securely in place and your daybed is better protected against the weather. With this cover, the underside of your daybed is not covered. This is a special, robust double-layered base: a synthetic, woven layer that is water-repellent and quick-drying, and a layer of waterproof lining. This combination ensures that the underside of your daybed is protected against mold.

Are you not using your lounge bed for an extended period? Then we recommend storing it in a dry and covered place, preferably in the accompanying storage cover that can be completely closed with a zipper. Make sure the fabric of your daybed is clean and dry before closing the cover.

Cleaning and maintenance of your daybed

The textile of the Blomus daybeds has a wear resistance of 50,000 Martindale and is easy to clean, ensuring your daybed lasts a very long time and maintains its quality. Of course, it helps tremendously if you take good care of your lounge furniture. You can do this, for example, by brushing off your daybed regularly.Outdoors, loose dirt (such as sand) will always end up on your sun lounger, even if it is under a canopy.

Did you accidentally get actual stains on your daybed? Then dab them away as soon as possible with a soft, damp cloth to prevent them from soaking into the fabric. You should be able to remove most stains perfectly well this way. Never use excessive heat on the textile, so dampen your cloth with water at a maximum of 38ºC and let the outdoor furniture air dry.

It is also recommended to use the Meda Cleaning Spray for stubborn stains. This is a cleaning product from Blomus, specifically for outdoor textiles. The cleaning spray helps remove stains and unpleasant odors.
